When Will ASUU Call Off Strike 2024/2025? The management of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced 6th May 2024 as the latest Official date to call off the ASUU strike 2024. Only if the Federal Government meet ASUU’s demands. Hence, the strike remains INDEFINITE and will not be called off.
“The major issue is that we want the strike called off so that our children in school can write their degree and promotion exams. ASUU graciously said they will come back to us on a date within the next one week. It will not be later than one week so that we then take it from there”.
Impact of the Strike on Students.
Poor Academic Performance: It has been proven that students perform less in examinations after returning from a strike period. Most student do not read during strike periods, while others tend to forget key points from lectures as a result of the long wait between lectures and examinations.
Lost of interest in continuing Program As a result of this strike, most students have secured jobs or other means of generating money and does not wish the strike to be called off soon, some have even planned not returning to classroom as the salary they now receive is large and they are not sure of getting such jobs after school.

Now in its sixth month with no end in sight, the questions on the lips of many concerned citizens are: Why are both parties adamant; is the government interested in university education; do both parties consider the impact of the strike on students; is the government still capable and serious about funding education; what options are available to students?
Putting the Rich Kids ahead of the Poor Kids: The rich who can afford private varsities sends their kids there, where their academic calendar in unaffected, the poor who cannot afford it tends to spend more years on campus as a result of strike, this make the rich kids graduate before the poor kids and as a result of this be ahead in some aspects of life.
FG and ASUU Strike Update Today 2024
Federal Government (FG) and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are yet to come to agreement and ASUU have already moved for Indefinite strike as FG refuse to meet their demand. The strike might last longer than expected as ASUU had already taken a consensual voting for indefinite strike across all branches.
ASUU said it took this decision after its National Executive Council meeting which started on Sunday night at the Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat, University of Abuja. This decision according to the ASUU President will give the Federal Government enough time to resolve all the outstanding issues and meets their demands once and for all.
When Will ASUU Call Off Strike 2024?
Federal Government on different meeting has failed to meet up with ASUU’s demands which led to ASUU Indefinite strike. We hope there will be another meeting between ASUU and Federal Government anytime soon.
